Michael Tye – Highly Commended
Michael Tye, of Tutti Arts, is an emerging artist who works in a bold style reminiscent of class graphic novels. Heavily inspired by pop culture, his work is often created using traditional tools of pencil, pen and markers. Michael creates under his own brand A Fist Full of Spaghetti and has begun experimenting with placing his artwork on objects such as t-shirts and skateboard decks. In 2020 his illustrations featured in children’s book ‘Where is Teddy?’ by Alexandra Trevena.
In 2021, Michael was awarded a scholarship through Foundation Barossa’s Concordis Social Inclusion Trust to study a Certificate IV in Visual Arts. Michael has exhibited in multiple Adelaide Fringe and SALA Festivals and has recently been expanding his graphic design skills through his work at Blend Creative.
The trustees of the 2023 Dawn Slade-Faull Award have Highly Commended Michael’s work and encourage him to continue his practice.
